Actor and comedian Danish Sait describes himself as a person who is not dependent on emotional ups and downs. This sense of peace, he said, comes from experience and a piece of advice he once received from Malayalam cinema legend Mohanlal. As Space General Chandrayaan Finding his audience, Sait said he is satisfied with giving his all to the project and leaving the final decision to the audience.

Talking about his approach towards work and life, Danish said India Today Specifically, “Honestly, I’m actually pretty calm. My emotions don’t really go up or down.” He remembers working with Mohanlal on a Malayalam film and nervously asking the veteran actor if he ever felt anxious before a big release. “I remember sitting with him and saying, ‘Sir, this is such a big release, are you nervous?’ And even when I asked it, I thought it was a stupid question. He just looked at me and said, ‘No. Why? What is the problem?’ I said, ‘No, I mean, it’s such a big movie.’ He said, ‘Yes, but you worked hard, didn’t you?’ I said yes. He said, ‘That’s all. Now the audience will decide whether they like it or not. You just have to leave it there.”

Danish said, he stayed with him during the making of Darshan Space General Chandrayaan. “For me, to be honest, I’m very happy that I got a chance to be a part of this whole experience. We had a great time working together, and I’m happy that I made some friends who I will always remember. Now it’s up to the audience to decide what they like, what they like, and what they don’t.”

Reflecting on his journey as an artist, Danish traces the lockdown years to a full-circle moment. “I remember I was in a hotel during the lockdown in 2021 when the IPL was happening, and I was reading a book by one of my favorite comedian-actors, Bob Odenkirk. He wrote a book called Comedy Comedy Comedy Drama, which is about a comedian’s transition into drama.”

He said, “Five years later, I got a chance to do it. It took five years, and I’m glad I got a chance to do it with these guys.”

For Danish, the atmosphere of the show made a lot of difference, especially for someone who does not live in Mumbai. “I don’t live in Mumbai; I don’t really have any friends here. I usually just come, do my work and leave. It can seem quite counterintuitive sometimes.”

But he said, this show was different from the beginning. “From the first day we met at the TVF office for our table reading, I think we all became friends right there. Working together on the show was an absolute joy and happiness.”

Taking inspiration from his background in comedy, Danish compared the experience to improvised theatre. “In comedy, there is a form called improvisation. In improv, when two people are doing a scene, one thing that really comes across is trust. You don’t win as individuals, you win as a collective. Everyone did their job with integrity, but more than that, we were there as friends, working towards a common goal. Especially Nakuul, I thought Nakuul was phenomenal. He really did a great job. He’s excellent.”
