Anuja’s Report: Madras High Court to hear CBFC’s appeal on Vijay’s ‘Jannanayagam’ at 11:30 am

In this special report from India Today, reporter Anuja provides an update on the ongoing legal battle over the film ‘Jannanayagam’, which is reportedly based on actor Vijay, and his political party TVK. A division bench of the Madras High Court, comprising Justice Arul and Justice Srivastava, is scheduled to hear at 11:30 am a writ appeal filed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The appeal challenges the previous single-judge order passed by Justice PT Asha which had favored KVN Productions. Anuja says that ‘there is a 90% possibility that the final decision regarding the release of Jananayagam’s film will be announced today.’ The production house, represented by lawyers Vijay and Subramanian, argues that the film’s release was delayed due to ‘political tactics’, putting an investment of around Rs 500 crore at stake. The court will decide whether to issue a censor certificate or send the film to a review committee, which could delay the release by another 20 days.
