Vijay Sethupathi’s pan-India film, which was earlier titled Puri Sethupathi, has confirmed its official name. On the occasion of the Tamil superstar’s 48th birthday, the production has announced the title of the upcoming film to be released on January 16, 2026. The upcoming film directed by Puri Jagannadh is being called Slumdog 33 Temple Road.

The announcement revealed the story that awaits fans of the actor, which speaks of a fierce force. It is written in Revelation, Out of the slums…a storm rises which no one can stop. Raw. Ruthless. Confirming that it is Puri Jagannadh’s film, it will be produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur. This film will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam. The poster shows Vijay Sethupathi in his new avatar as he stands amidst piles of cash surrounding him. There is a weapon in his hand and a line of blood on it, the same thing is mentioned in the name of the film Slumdog. Wearing sunglasses, he is flaunting a dashing look for his role as the lead character in Mass Action.
National Award-winning composer Harshvardhan Rameshwar has been brought on board for the film. Apart from Vijay Sethupathi, the film also stars Tabu, Vijay Kumar, Brahmaji and VTV Ganesh, while Samyukta Menon is in the lead role. Earlier, in November 2025, the film shared an emotional note announcing that the filming has been completed. The actor shared a video talking about his experience, “I will fondly remember the days when I worked with this unit and Puri sir.” He said that he will never forget the time he spent on the set, which was full of happy moments. However, he shared that it was equally challenging.
Slumdog 33 Temple Road is expected to be released within this year, with a reportedly expected premiere in June 2026.
