Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Chairman Prasoon Joshi has reacted to the growing controversy over the teaser of Yash’s upcoming film. Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Adults. speaking specifically to India TodayJoshi said that the board will not give any clarity at this stage.

He further added, “I don’t think anything until things are implemented on the certification board. Sometimes, I also want to clarify that a lot of things that you see on YouTube and other digital platforms, many times they are not certified. So people think that whatever they are watching is certified.”

Joshi said, “Digital media, a lot of things that you see have not gone through the process of certification. So sometimes what people see on OTT, YouTube and other digital platforms is very inappropriate, assuming it has been certified by the CBFC. And the truth is that it has not.”

“And no one will watch there, it’s a job, it’s a tough job for the people there. They (CBFC board members) are trying to strike a balance between what the filmmakers are saying and what the society expects. So there is a balance, and that’s the role of this body,” he concluded.

Joshi also refused to get involved in the ongoing controversy regarding Vijay. Jan NayganWho is in legal trouble. When asked about the film, he only said that the matter was sub-judice and refused to divulge anything more about it.

The complaint was submitted to the Karnataka State Women’s Commission (KSWC), demanding immediate action regarding the suitability of the content for public viewing.

In response, the KSWC wrote to the Censor Board requesting that the Board investigate the complaint and take “appropriate action”.
