Samsung decided to cancel the Galaxy S26 Edge quite late in the development process and replaced it with the Galaxy S26+. However, since work on the S26+ started late, the company is now struggling to complete it. Insiders speaking to the Korean publication election Some changes have been revealed at the last moment.
Apparently, Samsung was initially planning to take the new display panel it developed for the S26 Edge and use it on the Plus model. He then decided against it, which left him with no time for a replacement part, so the S26+ will use an almost identical panel to the Galaxy S25+. However, it must use new glass.
The vanilla Galaxy S26 is getting a new display – it will reportedly measure 6.27″, making it 0.11″ larger than the existing Galaxy S25’s 6.16″ panel. Perhaps the S26 Edge panel would have been larger – last year’s S25+ and S25 Edge both used 6.7″ panels. Or maybe the company has other upgrades in store, we’ll never know.

of electricity There is other interesting information in the report. The Galaxy S26 Ultra began mass production last month. This is partly because this was the phone it was always supposed to be (unlike the other two, which replaced the planned S26 Edge and S26 Pro respectively), but also because Samsung chose to prioritize securing components for the Ultra.
The production target right now is 3.6 million Ultras, 700,000 vanilla phones and 600,000 Plus models. These targets will be adjusted in February – Samsung will reportedly aim for higher volumes for the vanilla and Plus models while reducing production for the Ultra.
The Galaxy S26 series is expected to be unveiled on February 25, a month later than the S25 series last year. However, Samsung has not officially confirmed the date.
