realme 16 pro+ review

Introduction and Specifications

Plus is back. After a short break during the launch of the Realme 15 series, the Pro+ model is back in the mix and has reclaimed the top spot in the family. So in a way, you can say that the Realme 16 Pro+ is the direct successor to the Realme 15 Pro.

And even though the 16 Pro+ launched less than half a year after the 15 Pro, there are some notable upgrades that make the generational upgrade worthwhile.

With Realme 16 Pro+ the company has mainly focused on the camera experience. Apart from all the software tricks, optimizations and features, the hardware itself improves the performance of the camera.

The main 50MP sensor has been replaced by Samsung’s 200MP shooter and is joined by a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto cam along with an ultrawide unit.

Another significant change in this year’s model is the design. Once again, Realme partnered with renowned Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa to design the new handset. Previously, the manufacturer worked with Fukasawa with “Suitcase Design” on the realme GT Master Edition and “Paper Design” on the GT2 Pro Master Edition.

However, the rest of the specs remain largely unchanged from the Page 15 Pro. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is still on top, and it’s built around the same 6.8-inch OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. The battery is 7,000 mAh with 80W SuperVOOC fast charging.

However, the smartphone landscape changes drastically every few months, so the Realme 16 Pro+ will face different challenges later in 2026, but for now, it will compete with almost the same rivals as the Realme 15 Pro.

Unboxing the Realme 16 Pro+

The Realme 16 Pro+ came in a standard retail box, which included the usual user manual, a USB-A to USB-C cable for data transfer and charging, as well as a compatible SuperVOOC 80W charger. This is likely because we received the Indian version of the device and if the phone ever comes to Europe, it likely won’t have a charger inside the box.

The retail box also comes with a clear silicone protective case.
