In 2002, Vikram Bhatt hit the big screen with one of his most successful films ever. Starring Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea, Raj also introduced the element of glamour in Bhoot with debutant Malini Sharma. One would have never imagined that ghosts were so beautiful if Malini had not sung ‘Aapke Pyaar Mein Hum Sawardane Lage’.
At a time when romance was everything, nobody would have thought that a horror film would break all records and become the second highest grossing film of that year. Dino and Basu played their respective characters, but Malini became famous overnight and is credited with the huge success of Raaz.
One of the top models of her time, Malini later appeared in several music videos including Sawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag, Kya Surat Hai, Ranjhar and Kitni Akeli. However, she never looked back at films. It is well known that she signed the film Gunaah opposite Dino Morea but left the film two days before it went on the floors, citing personal reasons. She was replaced by Bipasha Basu.
Unfortunately, Malini Sharma’s personal life was turbulent, which led her to stay away from the limelight and live a secluded life. She married Tum Bin star Priyanshu Chatterjee, whom she met during her modelling days. Unfortunately, their marriage did not stand the test of time and lasted only four years.
On television, Malini also worked in successful shows like CATS and Hum Dono. She then worked as an art director in films like Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic and Just Married, but then she disappeared. It has been almost two decades since we last saw Malini, but it is only her charisma that millions of fans are still hoping for her return.
