Man Shankar Var Prasad Garu had a great start. The film starring Chiranjeevi grossed approximately US$1.50 million including paid premieres at the North American box office on its opening day. To be precise, according to early estimates, the film grossed over US$1.35 million in the US, while Canada contributed approximately US$125,000.
Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the family entertainer marked a solid comeback for megastar Chiranjeevi at the box office. Based on these trends, if the film had been released a day earlier with a Saturday premiere, it would have opened to US$2.5 million in North America.
The film is expected to open at Rs 10 crore globally. As per preliminary estimates, grossing more than 60 crores. If it succeeds in opening as per the projected figures, it will be the biggest opening for a senior Telugu star in recent times and the biggest opening for Chiranjeevi after Saira Narasimha Reddy.
For those unaware, Mana Shankar plays Nayanthara Chiranjeevi’s romantic partner in Vara Prasad Garu. Apart from the two superstars, the film also stars Catherine Tresa, Zarina Wahab, Harsh Vardhan, Abhinav Gomatam, Sachin Khedekar, Sharat Saxena, Sudev Nair, Srinivas Reddy, Harsha Chemudu and many others in lead roles.
Additionally, the film stars Venkatesh Daggubati in a guest appearance, having starred in the previous Anil Ravipudi directorial and delivered a blockbuster. A similar reception is expected with Man Shankar Var Prasad Garu. Let’s see if Chiranjeevi starrer Sankranthi can match the glory of Vasthoonam.
