Realme has refreshed its popular Redmi Note series in India with the launch of Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro Plus, aiming to strengthen its hold on the upper mid-range smartphone sector. The new lineup is closer to the familiar pricing, starting at Rs 31,999 and going up to Rs 44,999, which should come as a relief to buyers tracking frequent price jumps across brands. Compared to the previous generation, only the Pro Plus has seen minor enhancements, while Realme has quietly worked on upgrades around the design, cameras, battery capacity, and durability. Both phones are now available on Flipkart and Realme India online store.

Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro Plus: Specs

At the top of the lineup is the Realme 16 Pro Plus, which Realme is pitching as a display-heavy and camera-focused device. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, a processor that may not be brand new but has already proven capable of handling everyday use. Backing it up is a massive 7,000mAh battery, paired with 80W fast charging.

Photography is another area where the Pro Plus clearly differentiates itself. The phone has a 200-megapixel primary camera, which is connected to a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. Realme has confirmed an optical zoom of around 3.5x, which should translate into clearer zoom shots than most mid-range phones. The presence of the periscope camera alone gives the Realme 16 Pro Plus an edge for users who care about long-range photography without stepping into flagship pricing.

On the front, the Realme 16 Pro Plus gets a curved AMOLED display. It offers a peak brightness of up to 6,500 nits, ultra-slim 1.48mm bezels, a 2,500Hz touch sampling rate, and support for Netflix HDR content. Realme has also focused on ruggedness this year, with the Pro Plus boasting IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, making it one of the more rugged phones in its segment on paper.

The standard Realme 16 Pro, meanwhile, is positioned as a more balanced option for users without stretching their budget too much. It also has a 200-megapixel main camera with support for 4K HDR video recording. Powering the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Max chipset, a new variant that Realme says is tuned for efficiency and consistent performance, although real-world testing will reveal more.

Just like the Pro Plus, the Realme 16 Pro packs a 7,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging and has a display that can reach 6,500 nits brightness. Realme hasn’t cut corners in terms of durability here, offering the same set of IP ratings on both models. The Pro model also offers a 300 percent ultra-volume mode, aimed at users who rely heavily on loudspeaker output.

It’s easy to spot the similarities between the two phones. Both feature a triple rear camera setup arranged in a square module, an aerospace-grade frame and buttons placed on the right edge. The displays are AMOLED panels with full-HD+ resolution, although the Pro model offers a 1.5K AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and support for 1.07 billion colors. The Pro Plus goes a step further with higher touch sampling, advanced dimming, and slimmer bezels for a more immersive look.

Software is another shared attraction. Both Realme 16 Pro and Pro Plus run on Realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16 out of the box. Realme promises three major Android updates and four years of security patches, which is in line with what buyers can expect in this price bracket. Performance-focused features like LPDDR5x RAM support and advanced cooling solutions are also part of the package.
