in an interview with iDream MediaSandeep Reddy Vanga reveals that Ranveer Singh was his first choice for the Hindi remake Arjun ReddyVanga said, “I was constantly getting calls from Mumbai to do the remake, First, it was pitched to Ranveer Singh, I wanted to do it with him,” However, the actor ultimately turned down the role citing the film’s dark tone,

“But ultimately, he decided not to do it because it was too dark for him at the time,” Vanga continued, explaining that remaking an already popular film comes with its own pressures. Ranveer’s decision opened the way for another actor to come forward.

After Singh’s exit, the filmmaker approached Shahid Kapoor, who was then not considered a safe commercial bet. “After Ranveer passed away, Shahid was approached. But people were not convinced,” Vanga recalls. He pointed out that Kapoor’s box office track record was seen as a risk, as none of his solo films had crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at that time. “They used to say, ‘If it was Ranveer, the box office would have been higher.’ But I was always sure about Shahid. He is a brilliant actor,” Vanga said.
