Dhurandhar collected Rs. Earning around Rs 10.75 crore on fourth Tuesday. This brings its running total to Rs. Approximately Rs 678.25 crore nett. The film made Rs. Earning around Rs 77 crore in five days of the fourth week. In the fourth week, the record was made in just three days and now it is moving towards Rs. Earning of Rs 100 crore in the fourth week. At present, there is a lot of possibility of this, because the remaining two days of the week are New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, due to which there can be a boom in business.
Despite no relaxation in ticket prices, an increase in business was seen once again on Tuesday. This is probably because Tuesday, being the discount day, has been reported throughout the year, and incremental viewers are still coming in, although not at the same level. However, this is not a good thing, as Discount Day has been a positive thing to come out of the exhibition area, creating strong patronage. When the biggest film out there is abandoning it, it’s betraying that very audience. It was somewhat understandable not to do this in the first week or even the second week, because you don’t want to sell your premium product at a discount when it is trending, but in the third and fourth weeks, they should have done it.
Discount Days have long been a part of exhibitions around the world, and they tend to see very favorable numbers. This was finally done in India this year, and the response was that Tuesday saw more penetration than Friday and equal to Saturday. Some people in the business world are campaigning against this and rebates in general, which is complete nonsense. The prices of cinemagoing have been reduced for a large section of the audience in this country over the past two decades, but the discount is a small step in the right direction.
Dhurandhar on Saturday became the highest-grossing Bollywood film in India, surpassing Jawan. It is now on track to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time in India, surpassing Pushpa 2 (Hindi), which is expected to open its fifth week. Furthermore, there is Rs. 800 crore nett mark, which seems a bit difficult, unless the film surprises again in the fifth and sixth weeks. The film faces minimal competition till January and can comfortably maintain its performance till Border 2 in the Republic Day week.
The box office collections of Dhurandhar in India are as follows:
