Comedian Russell Brand faces new allegations of rape and sexual assault
Following an ongoing investigation by the Metropolitan Police, Russell Brand has been charged with two further sexual offences, including rape. The entertainer will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in January 2026.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Russell Brand has been charged with one count of rape and one count of sexual assault involving two additional alleged victims. The Crown Prosecution Service authorized new charges, which relate to incidents allegedly occurring in 2009. Brand, 50, is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 20, 2026, to answer to the charges.
The new charges are in addition to five previous counts to which he pleaded not guilty earlier this year, including two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault. The original alleged offenses date from 1999 to 2005 and involve four women, with the hearing scheduled to take place at Southwark Crown Court in June 2026. The cases are said to have occurred in central London and Bournemouth.
according to BBCDetective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqui said: “Women who have made reports, including those facing two new allegations, continue to receive support from specially trained officers.”
The brand has consistently denied all allegations. Speaking after the earlier allegations in April, he said: “What I never was was a rapist. I never engaged in non-consensual activity.” He added, “I will now have the opportunity to defend these charges in court and I am incredibly grateful for that.”
