‘Will be a Thalaivar fan for life’: Sivakarthikeyan couldn’t contain his excitement as he watched Rajinikanth’s Padayappa again; Video

Superstar Rajinikanth-starrer Padayappa is re-released in theaters on December 12, 2025, coinciding with the actor’s 75th birthday. Taking his fanboy moment to its peak once again, Sivakarthikeyan was seen having a whistle-worthy and exciting moment inside the theatre.

Sivakarthikeyan becomes a complete Rajinikanth fan in theatres.

In a video shared online, Sivakarthikeyan is seen filled with excitement during the re-release of Padayappa. When Rajinikanth appears in the introduction sequence of the film, the actor can be seen whistling, making it a truly memorable scene.

Apart from the video, Sivakarthikeyan was also seen in an online post shared by Kalai Arasu, co-producer of Sivakarthikeyan Productions. Sharing pictures with the Amaran actor, the filmmaker wrote, “Back in the days when Padayappa meant whistles, goosebumps and pure Thalaivar magic. Nostalgia, same idol, same madness. From then till now – Padayappa + Rajinikanth = forever. Thalaivaa fans for life.”

More about Padayappa

For those unfamiliar, Padayappa is a 1999 blockbuster film starring Rajinikanth in the lead role. Directed by KS Ravikumar, the film was based on a story written by the superstar.

The film tells the story of a virtuous engineer who returns to his village, clashes with his ambitious step-sister and overcomes family betrayals and land disputes. Ultimately, he uses his intelligence and character to restore his family’s honor and defeat his enemies, inspired by themes of family pride, wealth, revenge, and the triumph of good over evil. On the way, he also deals with the arrogant Nilambari, who is infatuated with him.

The film stars Ramya Krishnan, Soundarya, Lakshmi, Sithara, Radha Ravi and others in important roles.

Upcoming movies of Rajinikanth and Sivakarthikeyan

Rajinikanth will next be seen in the lead role in Jailer 2. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film will serve as the sequel to the 2023 hit Jailer, which is expected to star Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Vijay Sethupathi, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty and others. The film is expected to release by mid-2026.

Post the release of the action-comedy, the superstar is reportedly set to collaborate with Parking fame director Ramkumar Balakrishnan for his tentatively titled project Thalaivar 173.

Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan will soon hit the big screen with his period drama Parasakthi. The film stars Ravi Mohan as the main antagonist, with Sreeleela and Atharvaa Murali in pivotal roles.
