As Rajinikanth celebrates his 75th birthday on December 12, 2025, wishes are pouring in for the superstar from all quarters. Just a day later, the actor was seen visiting and praying at the Tirupati temple with his entire family.
Rajinikanth visited Tirupati temple with family
In the pictures surfaced on social media, Rajinikanth was seen entering the temple premises with his family. The actor was accompanied by his wife Lata and daughters Soundarya and Aishwarya. As the family stepped out of the temple complex, his grandson, Yatra Raja, was also seen accompanying them, gently guiding and assisting the superstar.
Later, Rajinikanth and his family posed for pictures and the actor waved and warmly welcomed the fans who had gathered to catch a glimpse of Thalaivaa in his usual style.

As part of his birthday celebrations, Rajinikanth recently re-released his 1999 blockbuster Padayappa in theatres. Directed by KS Ravikumar, the film was based on a story written by the superstar and was also produced by him.
During the promotion of the film, the superstar revealed that he had plans for a sequel and recalled how he had initially envisioned Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the main antagonist, a role that eventually went to Ramya Krishnan.
Apart from the superstar and Ramya, the film also featured Soundarya, Lakshmi, Sithara, Radha Ravi and others in important roles.
Rajinikanth’s next movies
Rajinikanth is next expected to be seen in Jailer 2. The upcoming Tamil-language action comedy serves as the sequel to Jailer (2023), which was a major blockbuster at the box-office.
The sequel is reportedly based on Muthuvel Pandian as he faces even more threats than the first instalment, promising intense action and bloodshed. It is expected that Mohanlal and Shiv Rajkumar will also be seen reprising their roles from the first film in the film. Additionally, Mithun Chakraborty and Vidya Balan are also likely to play important roles.
Although more details about the film have not been revealed yet, it is expected to be released in theaters by mid-2026.
Looking ahead, Rajinikanth is also set to be seen in the lead role in a film tentatively titled Thalaivar173, co-produced by Kamal Haasan. The project is expected to be directed by Ramkumar Balakrishnan of Parking fame.
