Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer Akhand 2, directed by Boyapati Srinu, is scheduled to release on December 5, 2025. Ahead of its release, the veteran star has been actively promoting the film and has criticized the new films’ excessively long running time.
Nandamuri Balakrishna criticizes long running films
Speaking in an interview conducted by 14 Reels Plus, Nandamuri Balakrishna questioned why films these days have such long runtimes without enough story to justify them. The Daaku Maharaj actor said, “Nowadays, we are seeing films that run for more than three hours…there is no story.”
He said, “They take a small thing and stretch it to three hours or more than three hours. I don’t understand why. When big films come out, there are huge expectations behind them.”
NBK reminded how, during the COVID-19 scare, the team decided to release Akhand in theatres. He told that at that time everyone was scared, but by the grace of God they gave it a go and it became a hit.
The actor concluded that Akhand had a strong story that was unlike regular films and required additional runtime due to its larger-than-life story.
