Samantha’s alleged Rs 1.5 crore ring is not ordinary; Know the secret designer behind this

Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s wedding with filmmaker Raj Nidimoru at the Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore on December 1, 2025 attracted widespread attention, especially for her unique wedding ring. The intimate Linga Bhairavi wedding ceremony took place in the morning and the pictures quickly went viral online. While Samantha impressed fans with her traditional red silk saree, minimal makeup and elegant jewellery, it was her diamond ring that generated the biggest buzz.

Samantha’s rare lozenge-cut diamond ring stands out

India’s first celebrity jewelery expert Priyanshu Goyal revealed in a video that Samantha’s ring features a rare lozenge-cut diamond. He explained that “the lozenge-cut diamond is rare and it often comes with steps in the center.” However, he pointed out that Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s ring was different, adding, “Samantha’s ring was plain.”

Goyal described the ring as one of the most unique items he has seen on any celebrity. He shared that the design includes eight petals of portrait-cut diamonds and a 2K diamond in the center. The ring also featured “8 custom diamond petals”, making it a highly detailed and technologically advanced piece.

According to Goyal, “It looks effortless in his hand but the engineering behind it is extremely complex. Only a few workshops in the world cut and assemble portrait diamonds at this level.” He estimated the value of Samantha’s ring to be around Rs 1.5 crore.

Here’s everything you need to know about the mystery designer

According to Hindustan Times, Samantha’s stunning vintage-style diamond ring was reportedly designed by Theodoros Savopoulos, a jeweler from Greece who is known for his discreet profile and rare creations. She is based in Athens and is known for creating one-of-a-kind handmade jewellery.

According to multiple reports, Theodoros “works almost entirely under the radar,” and creates a limited number of pieces each year. One of their social media posts describes their customers as “an elite clientele of the most discerning collectors and connoisseurs”. His work is known for being contemporary, gem-centric and highly innovative.

The portrait-cut diamond used in Samantha’s ring has deep historical roots. It dates back to ancient India and gained prominence during the Mughal period. A report by Only Natural Diamonds states that the name comes from the time when “Shah Jahan applied transparent thin diamonds to hand-painted portraits to protect and enhance wearable miniature art.”

For the ceremony, Samantha wore a custom, hand-woven red Banarasi saree made of pure Katan satin silk. Styled by Pallavi Singh and Selvi, this saree was made by a single artisan in two to three weeks. It has powder-zari battis and a nishi-woven border embellished with beige-gold zardozi work consisting of plain strings, katdana, kasab and small mirrors.
