Thamma starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui made its global theatrical run at Rs. Earning of Rs 176 crore. The film released on Tuesday after Diwali and took a stellar opening of Rs 23 crore in India. Since it was not a regular Friday release, it enjoyed an extended first week of 10 days, which ended with its entry at Rs. 100 crore net club.
Furthermore, the film recorded a good-to-down trend and collected Rs. 17.25 crores in the second week, followed by Rs. 5.50 crore in the third week and Rs. 1.25 crore in the fourth week. The vampire comedy spent its entire theatrical run in India at Rs. I closed in. 126 crore net i.e. Rs. Earning of Rs 151 crore.
It also found some audiences in the international markets, where it collected US$2.85 million (grossing Rs 25.50 crore), taking its worldwide total to Rs 2.85 crore. Earning of Rs 176.50 crore.
Although Thamma did well considering the cast and the cost involved, it should have done better considering it is part of the popular horror comedy universe. The film managed to surpass the lifetime theatrical performance of Stree (2018) at the Indian box office, despite its figures being raw and unadjusted for inflation.
Overall, the film proved to be a successful venture and earned average at the box office. Had Thamma seen better legs in weeks two and three, this hit would have been closer to a verdict.
