Amidst the increasing misuse of her name, image and identity, Shilpa Shetty has approached the Bombay High Court to protect her personality rights.

Actress Shilpa Shetty, through her lawyer Sana Raees Khan, moved the Bombay High Court to protect her personality rights. Khan said, “The misuse of Ms. Shilpa Shetty’s name, image and identity has reached the point where legal intervention has become mandatory.”

He said, “Her personality is the result of decades of credibility, discipline and public trust. No platform has the right to weaponize her identity for ulterior commercial gains. Our litigation before the Bombay High Court signals zero tolerance towards rampant abuse of celebrity rights.”

earlier this year, KJO seeks intervention from Delhi High Court To protect his personality rights. The petition comes following allegations that Johar’s name was being used to extort money following similar cases involving Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan.

In October, the actor Akshay Kumar also approached The Bombay High Court sought protection of his personality rights. The court said it would pass an interim order to protect the actor amid the rise of deepfake videos, which “not only hurts his stature but also has larger consequences.”

It all started when the Delhi High Court granted an interim injunction to protect Amitabh Bachchan’s personality rights from unauthorized commercial use in a landmark case (Amitabh Bachchan vs Rajat Nagi and others) in November 2022. The decision prevents anyone from using her name, image, voice or any other unique feature of her personality without her consent.

Many other stars, including Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Hrithik Roshan and Arijit Singh, had also approached the court in the past to protect their personality rights.
