Mammootty starrer crime thriller Kalamkaaval has announced a new theatrical release date after the postponement, as its recent trailer grabs attention for its intense story and powerful performances.

Upcoming Mammootty starrer Malayalam crime thriller release Kalamkaval Officially rescheduled, the film will now premiere in theaters on December 5, 2025. The makers released an updated poster with this announcement, responding to weeks of speculation and previous postponements. The release of the film will clash with Ranveer Singh’s upcoming action drama ‘Dhurandhar’.

Keep calm and wait for it” The announcement prompted reactions from fans, including comments like “Please don’t change the date again.”

Fans initially expected the film to arrive on November 27, but the film’s team confirmed the delay on social media. The company’s statement read, “There has been a delay, not a reduction. We hear you. The wait has been noted. The poison below will be arriving soon!! #Kalamkaval Release Postponed, New Release Date To Be Announced Soon!! 9sic).”
The recently unveiled trailer has generated significant interest for its entertaining tone and visuals. It begins with a tense moment when SJ Ethan says the line, “The poison beneath cannot be suppressed forever.” The trailer presents the story as a crime documentary, focusing on a violent dispute between youth in Kottaykonam, located on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. The incident escalated into widespread communal tension, leading to the intervention of the Special Investigation Team of the Kerala Police. The narrator describes the investigation as “revealing truths far more shocking than they expected.”
The trailer scenes feature Vinayakan and Jibin Gopinath playing officers in a challenging environment in search of a suspect.
Kalamkaval marks the return of Mammootty After a brief health leave. Directed by Jithin K Jose, the film also stars Meera Jasmine, Gayatri Arun, Vinayakan, Jibin Gopinath and Biju Pappan. Technical credits include cinematography by Faisal Ali, editing by Praveen Prabhakar and music by Mujeeb Majeed. The screenplay is co-written by Jithin and Jishnu Sreekumar, Mammootty Kampani is the producer and Wayfarer Films is handling distribution in Kerala.
