Actor Vijay Sethupathi, who is busy with projects in Tamil and Telugu industries, has joined director Vetri Maaran’s upcoming film ‘Arasan’ starring Silambarasan TR. The film, which is part of the filmmaker’s much-awaited ‘Vada Chennai’ universe, will now star Sethupathi in a pivotal role.

On Tuesday, producer Kalaipuli S Thanu confirmed the actor’s joining the ‘Arasan’ cast with a special poster. He captioned the post, ‘Manidham Inaigiradhu, Magathuvan Therigiradhu (Connects humanity, shows greatness).

It was written on the poster, ‘Welcome Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi on board.’ While Vetri Maran and Sethupathi worked together in the ‘Viduthalai’ films, Simbu and Sethupathi shared screen space in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’.

Earlier in June, Vetri Maran had clarified that ‘Arasan’ is part of the ‘Vada Chennai’ universe, but not a sequel to his superhit film which stars Dhanush in the lead role.

It was rumored that Andrea Jeremiah, who played Chandra in ‘Vada Chennai’, might also join ‘Arasan’. Meanwhile, there are speculations that director Nelson Dilipkumar and actor Manikandan are also a part of ‘Arasan’. However, official confirmation is still awaited.

The shooting of ‘Arasan’ started a few weeks ago and is progressing rapidly.
