Mammootty’s Kalamkaval postponed, new release date to be announced soon
The release of Mammootty’s film ‘Kalamkaval’, which was earlier scheduled for November 27, has been postponed with the announcement of a revised date.
The release of the much-awaited Malayalam film ‘Kalamkaval’ starring Mammootty and Vinayakan has been postponed from its previously planned date of November 27. The announcement was made via Mammootty Kampani’s official social media channels on Thursday, confirming earlier speculations about a possible delay. No new release date has been provided at this time.
The official update was accompanied by a new promotional poster, with the caption: “Delayed, not diminished. We hear you… The wait has been noted. The Venom Beneath Will Arrive Soon!! #Kalamkaval Release Postponed, New Release Date To Be Announced Soon!! (sic).” The purpose of this message was to reassure fans waiting for the film’s arrival.
Reports suggested that the film was delayed due to delays in OTT and satellite deal signings. However, official confirmation is still awaited.
Directed by debutant Jithin K Jose, the film explores a story featuring Mammootty in a morally ambiguous role. Vinayakan plays the role of a police officer, and Jibin Gopinath, known for his work in ‘Dies Iraa’, has an important supporting role. The screenplay is jointly written by Jitin K Jose and Jishnu Sreekumar.
The technical crew includes cinematographer Faisal Ali, editor Praveen Prabhakar, music director Mujeeb Majeed and production designer Shaji Naduvil.
The project is being backed by Mammootty Kampani and is being distributed in Kerala by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films. The production house recently received U/A 16+ certification for the film.
Although the release has been delayed, the filmmakers have assured that a new date will be announced soon. The postponement has attracted considerable attention, especially among Mammootty’s fans and the wider Malayalam film audience.
