Daniel Radcliffe shares that he has written a warm, encouraging letter to new Harry Potter star Dominic McLaughlin, wishing him an even better journey than his. He also reflected on the young cast and expressed hope that they will enjoy the experience as the HBO reboot moves forward.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has shared how he reached out to Dominic McLaughlin, the young actor who played the iconic role that defined his childhood.
But I am saying good morning americaRadcliffe said the message was only meant as a small gesture of support as HBO moves forward with a long-term television reboot of the ‘Harry Potter’ series. He made it clear that he did not think McLaughlin had contacted him, but since he knew some of the people involved, he decided to send a letter, which Radcliffe described as “a very sweet note”.
Radcliffe explained that his intention was solely to wish the new Harry all the best and then gracefully step away. “I don’t want to be a ghost in these kids’ lives. I just wanted to write to them to say, ‘I hope you have the best time, and an even better time than I did,'” he said.
The ‘Now You See Me 2’ actor also reflected on seeing early images of the newcomer cast, which reminded him of how young he was when they began filming in 2001. “I just look at them and say, ‘Oh, it’s crazy I was doing that at that age,'” he said, adding that he hopes the new generation is enjoying their experience on set.
Dominic McLaughlin leads the new group, joined by Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout as Ron. The cast also includes Locke Pratt (Draco Malfoy), Alessia Leoni (Parvati Patil), Leo Early (Seamus Finnigan), Rory Wilmot (Neville Longbottom) and Amos Kitson (Dudley Dursley).
To support young actors, Warner Bros. Studio Leavesden has reportedly set up a temporary school facility, according to a BBC Report from July. Since each season adapts one of JK Rowling’s books, production is expected to run for several years.
Casey Bloys, president and CEO of HBO and Max Content, previously confirmed that the reboot will be “a faithful adaptation”, which will allow the series to delve deeper into the source material than the films. The project is being shaped by ‘Succession’ alumni Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, with Gardiner as showrunner and executive producer, and Mylod set to direct several episodes in addition to executive producing.
‘Harry Potter’ television series It is expected to premiere in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max.
