The trailer of Aditya Dhar’s next directorial ‘Dhurandhar’ directed by Ranveer Singh was released at a grand launch event on Tuesday. At the launch, Dhar commented on how tirelessly his team worked for the film for almost two years. Her comment on working hours sparked another conversation, especially after Deepika Padukone reportedly quit Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film over her demand for 8-hour shifts.

Addressing the media along with Deepika’s husband Ranveer Singh, Dhar praised the patience of the crew. He said, “We have worked 16-18 hours continuously for one and a half years. Yet, not even once has anyone complained about the workload. Everyone, including Ranveer, has given their 100 percent.” He presented the film as a labor of “pure intention” rather than money or prestige.

Dhar, who last directed ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ in 2019, returns to direction after six years. Meanwhile, Ranveer called him “resolute and uncompromising” in his vision, and said that ‘Dhurandhar’ is “a phenomenal work of cinema.”

Everyone has been introduced one by one in the four minute eight second trailer. Arjun Rampal opens the narrative as Major Iqbal, the “angel of death” who vows to “bleed India by giving it a thousand wounds”. R Madhavan appears as Indian spy Master Sanyal, who believes that the only solution is to infiltrate into enemy territory. Akshaye Khanna’s Rehman adds intense menace to the dacoit mix, while Sanjay Dutt joins in as SP Chaudhary Aslam. Ranveer Singh later enters as Hamza, the man sent to take them down, the rest comes to the fore in a spectacle of action, shootouts and fast-paced action.

In a statement, the actor said the team is set to make a film that “can stand up to any global feature.” He said, “This is an incredible and complex story of raw, gritty and unapologetically Indian with world-class technical execution.” “I believe this is India’s moment to shine on the global stage, and we aim to be at the center of that moment while staying true to our roots.”

‘Dhurandhar’ is scheduled to release on December 5.
