The Globetrotter event of Mahesh Babu starrer Varanasi directed by SS Rajamouli is happening on 15th November 2025 i.e. today in Hyderabad. Earlier in the day, before the official title was launched, the glimpse of the film was leaked all over the internet, leaving Rajamouli angry and disappointed by the incident.
SS Rajamouli reacts to Varanasi Jhalak leak
Speaking at the Globetrotter event, the Baahubali director said, "Yesterday after midnight, despite taking a lot of precautions, while screening and reviewing more testing video, someone shot it with a drone and leaked it. We sourced the best LEDs from across the country and installed such a big screen. For this we arranged dozens of generators. Still, it was all in vain."
For those unaware, during the recce of the program, the producers were testing scenes before the actual screening. During this time someone captured the visuals and leaked it, as a result of which the title of the film and Mahesh’s look were already revealed.

Varanasi is an upcoming adventure film starring Mahesh Babu in the lead role. Directed by SS Rajamouli, the film is touted to be a globe-trotting adventure film, with the superstar playing the role of an explorer and time traveller.
According to early reports, the actor will play a character inspired by African folklore and Indiana Jones. The makers recently introduced Mahesh’s character as Rudra, presenting him in a major new avatar.
Apart from the Khalija actor, the film also stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran in co-lead roles. While PC will play a lethal role as Mandakini, the Vilayath Buddha actor will play the role of a supervillain named Kumbha.
Speaking at the event, Prithviraj revealed that he was mesmerized after listening to just five minutes of the film’s story. He said, “I was stunned after narrating just five minutes of the story. The scale, the vision, the ambition, this is SS Rajamouli taking the extremes to places never seen before.”
Furthermore, reports have suggested that Varanasi will release in theaters on March 25, 2027, with the official update still pending.
