Actor Taylor Zakhar Perez says the script for Red, White and Royal Blue 2 is really good

Taylor Zakhar Perez has confirmed plans for a sequel to the romantic drama ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’, following the official greenlight from Amazon MGM Studios. The actor, who played Alex Clermont-Diaz in the original film, indicated that filming for the second installment is expected to begin in 2026. The script, written by Gemma Burgess, Matthew Lopez and Casey McQuiston, is already generating excitement within the production team and among fans.

Perez revealed in a recent interview E! That he has read the script of the sequel and expressed his enthusiasm for the project. “There’s a huge appetite for a sequel, so I’m looking forward to it,” he said, outlining the anticipation among both the cast and audience.

When asked further about the script, Pérez said, “I read the script and it’s really good.” He said that the next film was inspired by the popularity of the source material and the positive response to the original adaptation.

While Pérez was pressed for details about the storyline, he responded, “Nothing”, highlighting the secrecy surrounding the story. He said, “They’ll come for me. Amazon will find me,” reflecting the studio’s strict approach to maintaining secrecy during pre-production.

The sequel will reunite Perez with Nicholas Galitzine, who played Prince Henry in the first film. Jamie Babbitt will direct the new entry, replacing Lopez, who directed the 2023 adaptation. The project is produced by Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, with Michael McGrath also involved. Lopez will remain involved in the production, and McQuiston will serve as executive producer.
