Around 6,500 tickets were sold across top national chains, PVR Inox and Cinepolis till 5 pm (November 12) for the opening day of De De Pyaar De 2. Advance booking started this morning, two days before the release. So far the start is slow; It should sell at least 9,000 tickets by the night.
If it manages to show better trends tomorrow, the film will close its advance bookings by registering 30,000 admissions for the first day. This will be lower than the advance bookings of Jolly LLB 3 starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, which was on the lower end. Ajay Devgan starrer this film is much discussed among the audience. However, the initial rush is somewhat missing, with its opening day figures largely dependent on spot bookings.
Releasing on November 14, this quirky romantic comedy drama should aim for a double digit opening as it will get the benefit of a national holiday on the first day. The film will do well for three weeks, as there has been no significant release till Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar. ‘Tere Ishq Mein’, releasing at the end of November, should not be a big threat to Ajay Devgan’s film. However, as it is rightly said, never say never; Box office is one area that keeps surprising you.
For those unaware, De De Pyaar De 2 serves as the sequel to the hit film De De Pyaar De released in 2019. Apart from Ajay Devgan, the film also stars Rakul Preet, R Madhavan, Meezaan Jaffrey, Javed Jaffrey, Gautami Kapoor and others. It will be interesting to see whether the upcoming film is able to attract the audience to the theaters or not.
