Inspired by the 1991 film ‘A Kiss Before Dying’ (adapted from Ira Levin’s 1953 novel), ‘Baazigar’ became one of the defining thrillers of the 90s. The film not only made Shahrukh Khan an overnight superstar, but also became a massive box office success, grossing Rs 150 million worldwide and becoming the fourth highest-grossing Hindi film of 1993.

Recalling my experience of Filming one of the most iconic scenes of ‘Baazigar’ And about the scenes that are now going viral, Shilpa had earlier shared the challenges of shooting without modern technology. “Akbar Bhai was the action director of the film, and we shot that scene about five times. I had a scar on my hip for about 8-10 years of my life because I was asked to wear a harness. In those days, we had no VFX. So, I had to act authentically to show what I was feeling, and the building was going on. But the makers thought the scene could be shot better,” she said playfully, “I’ve died about 15 times.”

Directed by Abbas-Mustan, ‘Baazigar’ is still celebrated as a cult classic – is remembered for its entertaining story, chart-topping music and unforgettable performances from its lead actors.
