Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has responded to Amitabh Bachchan’s light-hearted anecdote about how the ‘Lakshya’ director once made him feel like an “amateur” on the sets.

But I am saying your courtFarhan clarified that he never intended to “teach” acting to the legendary actor and later realized that his approach may have inadvertently hurt him.

When he was asked about the incident. Farhan told that this happened The first day of shooting for ‘Lakshya’ in the army cantonment, where strict time restrictions made him worried about completing the schedule. He recalled, “It was his first day, and he was taking time to get the hang of it in terms of performance. And from my side I was just thinking that there is a lot of pressure on me, so if I just go and talk to him in a room to see if he is having any difficulties, or I can help him understand, so that from there we can be efficient on the set.”

The filmmaker added, “It’s very possible that my enthusiasm might not have gone down well with them, that a young director is telling them that if there’s a problem, let’s talk about it. That might have hurt them. So I later understood that they must have felt bad and I apologized to them for that. And as I said, that wasn’t my intention, it was just that whatever we were doing could be accelerated if we could.”

This incident came to light recently during an episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 17’, where Farhan and his father Javed Akhtar joined Amitabh Bachchan to celebrate his birthday. During the show, Big B fondly narrated how, while shooting for ‘Lakshya’, he found himself struggling with his dialogues – something that rarely happened to him. “My experience of working with him in the film is that he came to my room at night and asked, ‘Amit uncle, are you facing some problem?’. We thought this is the maestro we are saying ‘Beta, acting aisi hoti hai’ (I thought I was an amateur, and this master was teaching me how to act),” he said, smiling.

He further added, “As soon as Farhan came out of my room, I called my wife Jaya (Jaya Bachchan). I was very emotional and told her about what happened and said, ‘They are telling me that I don’t know how to act.’ He told me, ‘Amit ji, if you are not happy then pack your bags and come back.’ I thought going might make things worse, but after that night, I became very comfortable and the rest of the shoot went great.

‘Lakshya’ (2004), Farhan’s directorial debut, starred Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta alongside Amitabh Bachchan. Although it did not perform well at the box office, the war drama later gained cult status for its realistic portrayal of courage and purpose.

Farhan Akhtar will be seen in ‘120 Bahadur’Directed by Rajneesh Ghai, where he plays the role of Major Shaitan Singh. The film starring Raashi Khanna, Vivian Bhatena and Ankit Sivach is scheduled to release on November 21.
