Samsung’s 2025 TVs in the Neo QLED, Micro RGB, OLED and QLED series feature a new conversational AI – Samsung Vision AI Companion.
Samsung says that unlike a typical AI assistant, which is designed to be used on personal devices, this AI is “purpose-built for communal screens”. In other words, you use your phone by yourself, while the TV can be used by multiple people at once.
Vision AI Companion has a Live Translation mode – this is real-time translation of dialogue in TV and movies. This allows you to watch content in your language, even if there is no dubbing.
It has AI Picture, AVA Pro and AI Upscaling Pro modes, which optimize picture and audio quality – it’s great for pre-4K and even pre-FHD content. AI Gaming Mode does something similar for games, it’s a responsive, AI-powered optimization of video and audio.
Just like your phone, you can create new generative wallpapers for your TV too.
Samsung Vision AI Companion is built for natural conversation – it understands context and follow-up questions without obfuscation. Dedicated AI buttons on the remote controls of new Samsung TVs provide quick access to the assistant.
You can press this and ask for recommendations – for example “Can you recommend a movie for Christmas?” or “What’s the best way to grill pork belly?” And you’ll get a list of suggestions for movies and videos to watch.
However, AI does not rely solely on encyclopedic knowledge. You might ask “What’s the weather like in December?” And it will pull the latest information to give you an answer.
It’s a multimodal AI, which is where the “vision” in the name comes from. You can ask him questions about what’s playing on the screen – a movie or a sporting event. It’s based on the enhanced Bixby experience, but third-party services are also supported – for example, you can talk to Microsoft Copilot or Perplexity.
Right now, Samsung Vision AI Companion supports 10 languages including English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, and Korean. The One UI Tizen platform will receive OS upgrades for seven years, keeping your TV current with new features.
