The Punjabi film Ikk Kudi has shown extremely positive trends at the box office both in India and abroad. The Shehnaaz Gill starrer earned Rs. Earned Rs. Earned around Rs 3.50 crore globally in its second weekend. The film saw similar growth in both the domestic and overseas markets, with both seeing almost double growth in their first weekend. In India, the film essentially opens on the second Sunday, coinciding with its first weekend.
The total box office collection after the second weekend was Rs. 9 crores worldwide. Domestic and foreign division Rs. Rs 3.25 crore. ₹ 5.75 crore (USD 650K) respectively.
The numbers are still on the low side, especially domestically, but the very positive trend gives it a chance. If Shehnaz Gill’s film can sustain these low levels for the next few weeks, it could make a respectable run.
It has been a terrible year for the Punjabi film industry, especially domestically. There were three big hits overseas, but two of them were not allowed to release in India and the third did not perform well. If this film can get some numbers, it will bring some joy to an otherwise difficult year.
