Punjabi actor Ammy Virk will soon be seen in Karan Johar’s production venture Bad Newz. Ammy is playing the lead role in this comedy-drama alongside Tripti Dimri and Vicky Kaushal.

A die-hard fan of Punjabi music sensation Diljit Dosanjh, Amy credits him for getting her work in Bollywood.

In a recent interview with IANS, Amy Virk praised Diljit Dosanjh, saying that he has broken the stereotype for actors in Punjab. Amy said that he is getting “good work” because of Dosanjh’s contribution.

“Earlier Diljit (Dosanjh) paaji came and broke the stereotype of Punjabi actors and hence we got good work here,” Amy said.

“I hope I will be able to make Punjab and all of you proud with my work,” the Bad Newz actor added.

Amy played the lead role in Bad Newz, while Diljit starred in Good Newz.

Amy Virk also praised the Bad Newz team and KJo’s production banner Dharma Productions. The actor called it a “dream” to work with them. He hopes to be a part of more entertaining films in the future.

The actor said it is a big deal for artistes from Punjab and they “work on these big entertainment shows.”

Amy Virk shares his experience of working with Bollywood stars

Amy Virk called Bad Newz his first commercial entertainer in Bollywood. Amy also talked about working with Ranveer Singh, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Vicky Kaushal in Hindi films.

Describing him as an “incredible actor”, she said working with him was “so much fun”.

Talking about his experience on the sets of Bad Newz, Amy Virk said that working with the team was a great experience and there was a very fun atmosphere on the sets.

The Bad Newz actor also revealed what it’s like to work on a Punjabi film set. “In the Punjabi film industry, we start shooting whenever we wake up; there is no alarm or schedule,” he said.

Let us tell you that Amy Virk has previously worked in films like Ajay Devgan starrer Bhuj: The Pride of India and Ranveer Singh’s 83. After Bad News, he will be seen in Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Khel Khel.

In Bhuj: The Pride of India, Amy played the role of Flight Lieutenant Vikram Singh Baj Jethaaj. In 83, he played the role of former cricketer Balwinder Sandhu. No information has been given yet about his role in Khel Khel.

Apart from being an actor, Ammy Virk is also a famous singer from Punjab. He is best known for the song Kismat, which was recreated as Kismat Badal Di for Sidharth Malhotra and Raashi Khanna’s action-thriller Yodha (2024).

Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh made his Bollywood debut in 2016 with Udta Punjab alongside Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor. The film paired Diljit opposite Kareena. He has also worked in films like Phillauri, Arjun Patiala, Soorma, Sooraj Pe Mangal Bhari, Jogi and Crew.

Diljit was last seen in Imtiaz Ali’s biographical drama film Amar Singh Chamkila, based on the life of late Punjabi folk musician Amar Singh Chamkila. Diljit played the lead role in the film opposite Parineeti Chopra. Parineeti played his second wife Amarjot Kaur.
