On Instagram began as an angry post about the elite lifestyle of politicians, within days, the Prime Minister and Nepal was thrown into the political upheaval. There has been a continuous technology in the heart of this extraordinary week. Earlier this week, thousands of young Nepal citizens, in their 20s, were put up in Kathmandu to rally against corruption and demanded the abolition of government ban on Facebook, YouTube and other popular apps, which were imposed a week before these protests. The youth undoubtedly moved, and quickly exposed the dissatisfaction and therefore, the protest spread like wildfire.

By night, at least 19 protesters were killed in police action. The protesters founded Parliament, KP Sharma Oli resigned as Prime Minister, and the army rolled on the streets. While all this happened in only a few days, the report is that Nepali youth resided on other communication channels such as discords and bitch rather than more popular people like Instagram, X and WhatsApp.

According to media reports, digital resistance was detected to rebel roots of protest. A few days before the rallies, thousands downloaded VPNs to move government firewalls. Others come to a Bluetooth-based messaging app created by Jack Daisi, which allows offline, encrypted communication.

What is a bitch?

Most of the discussion around this rebellion focuses on the bitch. Launched in July 2025, Jack Daisi’s messaging application is an offline texting app that does not rely on internet connection and runs using Bluetooth. If the intended recipient is not passed, the message “hops” device to the device to the device until he achieves his target. Severe, the messages are end-to-end encrypted, which means only sectors and final recipients can read them.

For the protesters afraid of an internet blackout, the middle was a lifeline. Unlike WhatsApp or Telegram, it does not rely on central server, SIM card or email address. As the crowd went through the streets of Kathmandu, the app quietly put its equipment together in mobile web of communication.

This is a striking image. A generation raised on memes and multiplayer games is now using the same digital tool to decide the political fate of a country.

Discord as a debate chamber

As bricks were still burning in Kathmandu, young activists moved to the American Chat app Discord to decide what came forward. A server alone attracted over 1,45,000 members, arguing an interim leader with fever. Many were supported by 73 -year -old former Chief Justice Sushila Karki.

Nepal’s rebellion is the latest reminder of how digital devices have changed protest movements. But here, the scale was breathtaking, the hashtags expressed displeasure, VPN breching sensor, discords hosting constitutional debates, and Aries Network were also added to protesters when the state tried to silence them.
