I was feeling epic in the content: An oral history of the Vampire Diaries revealed that Nina Dobrev and Candis were the lowest paid actors on the set with Kat Graham, even after being part of the lead actors on the show. Recalling its time to film The Famous show, the new book has revealed the scary truth under blood scenes. “This was a difficult situation because my contract only asked Elena to play, but I was playing many characters that doubled my charge. I had to be on set for double the amount of time, I had to remember the amount of lines double.”
Nina Dobrev is said to have been fighting a single battle to get equal pay as male counterparts in the show, the other two Ian Somarhander and Paul Vesley. The trio made one of the most complex and divisive love triangles in TV history, but despite two roles of Nina Dobrev- departure- Elena Gilbert and Catherine Pierce.
He said, “I wanted to play Catherine, but I wanted to give appropriate compensation for her, and I wanted to be equal to the boys,” she revealed. But she was told that she would not hit the show with the same amount as her male counterparts on the show. “It felt that he was saying that all the hard work I was working in did not matter to him and I was not equal to my male counterparts, and therefore it was upset for me.” Eventually the creators of the show were asked to write Catherine’s character, so that she would not have to pay much to the actress, causing a fight between the creators and the studios.
