Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt recently opened up about how his passion for acting helped him tolerate the harsh realities of prison life. While appearing on the popular Netflix series ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, Dutt shared the renewers from his time behind bars, showing the impact of those years.

‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ star shared that during his chaos, he started a theater group inside the jail, casting fellow prisoners, which included the murder guilty people as their actors. “I was the director,” he said, otherwise adding a touch of dark humor in poignant memory.

Dutt, who appeared on the show with his long -time friend Sunil Shetty, said he had no regrets about the options made by him. He said, “I do not regret anything in my life. My only regret is that my parents left me very soon. I really remember them,” he said, referring to his late parents, mythological actors Nargis and Sunil Dutt.

The conversation took a slight turn when Archana Purana Singh asked Dutt about the furniture while carving to jail. The actor shared that he was paid for his work, whether he was making chairs or paper bags. “I earned wages there. Then I also started a radio station inside the jail. It was called Radio YCP. We had subjects to talk, and we also did comedy. I hosted the program, while three or four prisoners helped write the script,” he said.

Sanjay Dutt was convicted in 2007 under the terrorist and disruptive activities (TADA) for illegal possession of weapons associated with the 1993 Mumbai Blasts case. After the Supreme Court retained the verdict in 2013, the actor surrendered and sentenced him to the Yerwada Central Jail in Pune between 2013 and 2016.

His rollercaster life inspired the 2018 biopic ‘Sanju’ directed by Rajkumar Hirani, in which Ranbir Kapoor depicted Dutt. One of the film scenes about a closed prison toilet underlined Dutt’s serious condition during his time in jail.

After his release in 2016, Sanjay Dutt returned to the silver screen and continued to work continuously. He married Manata Dutt in 2008, and the couple are parents of twins. The family currently lives in Dubai, although Dutt often travels to Mumbai for work.

He was last seen in the action film ‘Baaghi 4’, including Tiger Shroff, Sonam Bajwa, Harnaz Kaur Sandhu, Shreyas Talpadu, Saurabh Sachdeva, Upendra Limay and Sheeba Akashdeep Sabir.
