Cancer patients do not have excessive weight loss side effects. It can be treated

New research unveiled that it affects 50–80% advanced cancer patients. Cachexia not only reduces the quality of life, but is also implicated in one third of cancer -related deaths.

In cancer patients, severe weight loss, known as medically cachexia, is one of the most devastating and worst complications of the disease for a long time.

In fact, a new study has shown that it affects up to 50–80% advanced cancer patients, and cachexia not only reduces the quality of life, but is also implicated in about one-third of the deaths related to cancer.

Researchers at the Wizman Institute of Science and MD Anderson Cancer Center explained in the journal cell, that excessive weight loss is caused by tumor due to systemic inflammation that disrupts communication between the brain and liver.

The Vegas Nerve: The Body Hidden Communator

The vaginal nerve acts like a superheave, relaying signs between the brain and vital organs such as the heart, lungs and liver. In healthy conditions, it helps in regulating metabolism, hunger and energy balance.

“The Vagus nerve, also known as the 10th cranial nerve, plays an important role in controlling the parasimpethetic system of the body, the mechanism that calms us after stress or excitement,” Dr. Rajev Vijaykumar, Hod and Senior Consultant, Medical Oncologist and BMTTGist, Hematologist, Hematologist, Gleansist, Hematologist, Glenncyst, Hematologist, GlanaLs, Hematologist, Hematologist, Hematologist, Hematologist, hematologist, hematologist, hematologist, hematologist, hematologist, hematologist,

Recent research has shown that stimulating this nerve through electrical impulses, sound waves, or even massage can reduce inflammation, improve appetite and help to reverse cancer cachexia.

Cachexia and existence

The study showed that in the pre-of pregnant cancer model, the breakdown of this brain-liver connection caused direct survival results. In other words, Cachexia is not just a side effect of cancer, it actively contributes to its lethargy.

Dr. The Saadvik Raghuram Y, HOD, medical oncology and hematology, eminate hospitals, have been highlighted which targets the right cervical velocity nerve, either through surgical or chemical means, helps in reversing the process and stimulates the nerve again.

He said, “In the Priclinical Mouse model, it has not only improved better results, but also a collective effect with chemotherapy. However, it remains pre-nidthi data and tried in humans before entering the mainstream treatment guidelines,” they say.

Earlier research was mainly focused on inflammatory markers such as Interlucin -6 and tumor -rich factors. But new conclusions indicate that excessive weight loss may also be grown by the loss of vaginal signaling to the liver.

This disruption reduces HNF4-Alpha, a major factor that controls protein metabolism in the liver. Without it, protein metabolic disgettles, causing muscle and fat loss, and eventually ruin severe.

“Together, these changes weaken patients physically and functionally, reduce their quality of life, and increase the risk of toxicity related to treatment. Importantly, cachexia alone accounts for about 20% of cancer-related deaths, yet we currently have no FDA-analogous treatment to reverse it,” Dr. Raghuram says.

A new medical route

The most promising part of this discovery is that the vagus is able to target nerve, some of them are able to prevent non-invasive, cachexia and improve reactions to chemotherapy in animal models.

“In clinical settings, the wagus nerve stimulation combined with chemotherapy has shown encouraging results, improved patient tolerance, reduced treatment dropouts, and promoted overall results. Scientists believe that it can become a new standard in cancer care, improve the quality of life and the effectiveness of therapy,” Dr. Vijayakumar says.

For decades, weight loss in cancer patients has only been managed with limited drug options and subcutaneous support.

By identifying a nervous system behind it, this study opens a new therapeutic limit that can improve both survival rates and increase the quality of life for patients undergoing cancer treatment.

As Dr. Raghuram said, “This research is not in the form of indispensable side effects of cancer to cachexia, but as a healing condition. It gives something to patients and doctors that they did not do in a long time.”
