This means that your PC will not only wait for the command, it will be able to answer what is already happening on your screen, to explain everything from scratches without offering relevant tasks or information.

Voice interaction is a major part of it. According to Davuluri, “You will be able to talk to your computer, when you are writing, inking, or interacting with another person. You should be able to understand your intention of interacting with it, a computer should be understood by semantic. This vision fits with a push to Microsoft’s “Agentic AI”, where the operating system acts like an assistant that can take the initiative, can handle complex tasks in apps, and work in a more condensed manner.

Changes will not be just cosmetic. Behind the curtain, Microsoft is planning to use a mixture of local processing and cloud computing to make these features possible. Davuluri described a future where computing power is divided between what is on your device and what is in the cloud, to keep things comfortable for users.

Hardware will also play a role here. Microsoft’s recent Copilot Plus is equipped with NPU (nerve processing units) dedicated to PC, designed to handle efficiently-devices AI functions. It opens the door for features such as on-screen recognition, real-time transcription, and frequent background agents that can work without drawing the battery or without the need for continuous internet access.

For everyday users, these changes can mean that, instead of switching between several programs to complete a task, you can tell your computer what you want and it handles the steps for you. This can make the windows more accessible, which can challenge people to control their PC through voice or visual signals with mobility or vision.

Of course, these ideas also raise questions about privacy, as the PC may really require to process personal data more actively. Davuluri admitted that Microsoft would need to balance these abilities with strong safety measures and transparency.
