Actor Shanwas, son of mythological Malayalam actor Prem Nazir, died at the age of 71 years. The actor died late on Monday night after battling health issues at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, which confirms family sources. Shanwas, who was admitted to the hospital due to deteriorating health conditions, leaves a legacy in the Malayalam film industry.
She made her debut in her brilliant acting career with the film ‘Prehethagal’ directed by Balachandra Menon. Over the years, he appeared in more than 50 films and several television serials, leaving a significant impression in the industry. Some of his remarkable works include ‘Majanilavu’, ‘Neelagiri’, ‘Manitali’, ‘Ganam’, ‘Azi’ and ‘Human’.
After an interval from acting, Shanwas returned to the Mohanlal-starrer ‘China Town’. He continued to work in the industry until his final presence in the 2022 blockbuster ‘Jan Gana Maina’, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. His contribution in both cinema and television has been considered equally by the audience and colleagues.
The news of his death has expressed condolences from various areas of the community including Kerala General Education Minister V Shivkutty. The minister paid tribute to Shanwas, accepting his influence on the Malayalam entertainment industry and zero will create his absence.
