Vaibhavi merchant won the National Award, Dhindora Baje Re was always special
Choreographer Vaibhavi merchant said that the song ‘Dhindora Baje Re’ of ‘Rocky and Rani Keem Prem Kahani’ was always special. He further expressed that winning the National Award for the choreography of the song has brought a lot of life to his work.

The choreographer was on his way to work in the choreographer Vaibhavi trader London when a journalist informed him of winning the National Award. Her song ‘Dhindora Baje Re’ from ‘Rocky and Rani Kai Prem Kahani’ won the 71st National Award 2025 in 2025.
In a special conversation with Today IndiaHe said, “It all seems so real right now. Because I am not in the country, I did not know that it was happening today. It is a emotional moment, but it is yet to drown. I am going to be 50 soon, and I think it has come as a wonderful birthday surprise.”
This is his second honor after ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ after ‘Dholi Taro’, but enthusiasm is the same.
The businessman shared what the award meant for him. He said, “This is a lot of life in my work. I will be honest, as an artist, I still see every new project as my first one. I still get those gozbumps and nervous energy. I still choreographed all my pieces with butterflies in my stomach.”
He said, “For me, entering that rehearsal hall, this is my temple, this is my temple, in the world in which I was born. This is the world that has brought me. The dance is something that I know since I was a child. Also, because I have been trained in a bhajan, any piece that celebrates semi-gentle or Indian forms, and especially encourages the film industry.”
The choreographer said that people are often surprised by how he can pull a classical and contemporary song like ‘Basharam Rang’ in the same year. She shared that she “now feels that she has a spontaneous switch in her brain, which helps her to take her to different styles at the same time.”
The merchant discussed the song that brought this honor in detail. He mentioned that ‘Dhindora Baje Re’ was a very important part in the story, and lifts the film.
“It felt almost a pre-climatic scene, a sequence. For me, it was very clear that it would be the largest number in the film. It comes at a very important point. Tota Roy Chaudhary and Ranveer Singh also performed a dance sequence from ‘Dola Re Dola’.
The 49 -year -old also talked about her experience working with Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. He said, “I had to work with both my proteases as well, because I worked with Alia Bhatt and Ranveer in my first films. So the song for me to come and do these two artists was really remarkable and special. It was my gift, my love for Karan. It is my love for Karan.
The choreographer said that there was a pleasure to work with each member of the film. And when people keep talking about how the song was ‘iconic’, the ‘gender roles’ broke, the businessman shared that she does not work with such an previous ideas.
“All this happens later. It reaches the inheritance situation much later when another generation is waiting for what I look forward to. As I will see a Saroj Khan or people before that generation before that generation. So hopefully, we will see those days as well,” they combined with a smile.
With the Best Choreography Award, ‘Rocky and Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ also received the award for the best popular film for the best entertainment.
