Apple’s iPhone 16 was the highest shipd smartphone in India during the Q2 2025, highlighting the increasing interest for premium equipment among Indian buyers. According to the latest report by Counterpoint Research, India’s smartphone market recorded an increase of 8 percent year-on-year in the shipment, and the overall price increased by 18 percent. This means that not only more phones are being sold, but people are also spending more on them. This price growth came on the back of strong demand for premium and ultra-Permina models, which attracted the brands to offer attractive deals, financing options and limited time sales.

The top position in the shipment volume went to Vivo, which increased its share by 20 percent in Q2 2025, which was above 17 percent a year ago. Samsung chased closely with 16 percent, while Oppo finished third with 13 percent, helping by its modified A5 and K series. Xiaomi’s share fell to 8 percent, while Realme kept 10 percent of the market. Interestingly, the fastest growing brand for the sixth straight quarter was nothing, with 146 percent year-on-year development, which was powered by the new CMF phone 2 Pro and aggressive offline expansion.

OnePlus saw concrete benefits in Ultra-Permina Space, in which 13 and 13R of the company led the charge and helped the brand grow 75 percent YOY in that segment. It also managed to increase its share in price, even though its market share fell slightly by 2 percent. Realme is also eyeing the high-end category, launching the GT Series 7 Pro Dream Edition, which targets young buyers in search of flagship specs.

The report states that India’s smartphone industry benefited from better economic conditions – low inflation and increased disposable income. Retail activity was also strong, in which brands like Vivo, Samsung and Apple offered better EMI plans, exchange offers and bundled deals. Ultra-Pramium segment (Rs 45,000 and above) increased by 37 percent, the fastest, Apple and Samsung pushed to all price categories.

Chipset Shipment also reflected a healthy market. MediaTek led a 47 percent stake, followed by Qualcomm to 31 per cent, which increased its smartphone shipment by 28 per cent in the same quarter.

Among other notable artists, Motorola increased shipment in 86 percent YOY, which rides high on the demand for G and Edge Series and is deeply pushed into small towns. Meanwhile, lava was the fastest growing brand in the sub-RS 10,000 price segment with 156 percent YOY development.
