The X, earlier known as Twitter, is now borrowing a page from WhatsApp playbook. The social media platform has rolled out several new features to improve its direct message (DM) experience, many of which will feel very familiar to regular WhatsApp users. Typing indicators, emoji reactions, mention, chat search, and even better controls that can send you messages, now the X chat system is added. Of course, unlike X, WhatsApp, its message is not known for facilities, but the latest updates show that the company is starting to take DMS more seriously, especially all-in-one platforms such as social media apps are treating social media apps.

One of the most useful additions is to type indicators. Like WhatsApp, users can now see that someone at the other end is actively typing, which makes the conversations feel more real -time and less like the guessing game. It adds additional bit reference to chat. For example, you know that instead of thinking, the answer is expected if someone is still around. This is probably one of the lowest addition, which should have made its way to X long time ago. It is good to see that it is finally here.

This is followed by emoji reactions. Again, like WhatsApp or Instagram or IMessage – you name it – now you can respond to a specific message with a simple emoji. Whether it is a thumb, heart, or laughs, it saves time and feels more casual and expressive the north. This is a small feature again, but one that helps you interact without need to write a full response.

Mention is also making their way in the mixture. Now you can tag someone in chat using the “@” symbol, making sure that they have been directly informed, the group is useful in the chat where things can lose in the flow. It also reflects the feature of WhatsApp and works especially when you need to draw attention without sending many messages.

Beyond these features, X also improve some subtle quality life. A new message is divided to keep things systematic, the ability to discover specific messages or chats, and more control that can send you DMS, which allows you to block only DMS from a particular user instead of completely blocking you on the platform.
