Coolie, starring Rajinikanth in the lead role, has been slated to release in theaters on August 14, 2025. Before hitting the Big Screen ahead of the film, director, Lokesh Kanagarj revealed his first choice for the Character Day before finalizing Saubin Shahir.
Who first attacked Lokesh Kanagarj for Cool?
In his conversation with the Hollywood reporter, Lokesh Kanagarj revealed that he initially wanted another actor for the Character Day instead of Saubin Shahir.
In response, Loki said, “Initially, I did not write a character for Saubin Sir, but it was written to someone else, some other stars. I don’t want to mention the name, but I could not work with him for various reasons. I did not know where to go after that because I really wrote for him.”
The director continued, how his second choice was Fahd Fasil and said, “I want to work with Fahd Sir again, but the head was not available, and I did not want him to do the same thing in Vikram.
Saubin Shahir as Dayal
Saubin Shahir was one of the first cast announcements of Shahir Coolee which was returned during the day. When he plays Dayal, the Manjumel Boys actor was seen shaking his feet with Pooja Hegde in the Monica song.

Coolie is an upcoming Tamil-language action that has a lead role starring superstar Rajinikanth. The film is asked to roam around a port and laborers’ lives, in which Nagarjuna Akineni and Upendra Rao play lead roles.
Apart from experienced stars, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is making a cameo appearance in the film. In addition, a contingent of actors like Shruti Haasan, Saubin Shahir, Satyaraj, Pooja Hegde (Dance Number), and much is part of the film.
In a recent interview, Lokesh Kanagarj confirmed that the cool trailer would be released on August 2, 2025. The directors do not want to reveal much about the plot before their release.
On the other hand, Fahd Fasil is soon set to appear in the Tamil film Marsesson. The film directed by Sudhesh Shankar has been slated to release on 25 July 2025, which includes Vadivelu as co-Leide.
