  • Rashmika Mandanna commented on the working hour debate of the film industry
  • He insisted on discussing hours before signing the contract

Actor Rashmika Mandanana is the latest celebrity to weigh the ongoing debate about working hours in the film industry, which has arisen with an alleged disagreement between Deepika Padukone and director Sandeep Reddy Wanga. The dispute has highlighted different expectations around the conditions of work. Mandanna insisted that the discussion should be done before signing the contract.

“Today the whole country is arguing about flexible hours, but it is for discussion among the teams and to find out what it works for them. It is his personal choice,” he said he talked about transparency among the people associated with the film.

Talk to Mojo story, Mandanna shared his experiences in various film industries, seeing the difference between working hours. “I work in many industries, such as South – Telugu, Kannada, or Tamil, where we work from 9 am to 6 pm. In Hindi, it is a shift from 9 am to 9 am. I am open to both because it requires my film,” he explained.

Mandanna sometimes highlighted the extreme demands placed on the actors, where the shooting could be much higher than the normal 12-hour shift. He said, “Some movies you can start from 9 am to 9 pm, but they proceed to the next day, so you are working like 36 hours. Very bad scenario where you are working for 2-3 days without going home,” he said.

Sandeep Reddy Wanga’s film ‘Spirit’ attracted attention to the work of working hours after Deepika Padukone’s departure, allegedly due to disagreement on a fixed schedule. This incident has discussed the requirement for clear agreements on work hours.

Mandanna, who collaborated with Wanga on Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’, acknowledged the importance of these conversations. He said that while flexible hours are debated, the extreme landscape where actor works for “2-3 days straight”, are not uncommon.

The ongoing debate has inspired actors and filmmakers to revaluate the practices and detect more sustainable functioning. Recently, actor Wikrant Massey talked about Deepika’s fixed hours of request and said that she deserves it.

Rashmika Mandanna was last seen in director Sekhar Kamula’s ‘Kubera’, which was released in theaters on 20 June.
