Actor Vijay Sethupathi recently reacted to the line of his son Surya Vijay Sethupathi’s alleged viral video. He publicly addressed the controversy around Surya at the premiere of his son’s first film ‘Phoenix’.
In the film Premier, Vijay also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the audience who attended the event along with the latest film team. However, when asked about those reports, it was alleged that he had pressured individuals to take some online videos, the actor issued an explanation.
Talking to the media at the event, Vijay said, “If this happens, it may have been done unknowingly or by someone else. I honestly apologize if someone gets hurt or intent is misunderstood.”
A video, which is going viral on social media, shows the proud Vijay Sethupathi shaking hands with his son and hugs him after screening in front of the media. He also congratulated director Anal Arsu for the film.
Surya’s ‘Phoenix’ tells the story of a young wrestler and his struggle against the power-hungry people. The Sports Action-Drama includes actors, J Vignesh, Sampat Raj, Deodarshini and others in decisive roles. The film is directed by Anal Arsu and produced by Rajalakshmi Anal Arsu under the AK Brevman Picture Banner.
‘Phoenix’ was released on July 4, 2025 with Siddharth’s ‘3BHK’.

Vijay Sethupathi was last seen in the Tamil romantic crime-comedy ‘Ace’, directed and produced by Arumuga Kumar. It also included Rukmini Vasant in the lead roles along with Yogi Babu, BS Avinash and Bablu.
The actor will be seen next time in Pandiraj’s romantic-comedy ‘Thalivan Thalavi’, which is supported by Satya Jyoti films. The film also includes Nithya Menon, Yogi Babu, Kemban Vinod Jose, Saravanan, RK Suresh, Kali Venkat, Myna Nandani, Deepa Shankar, Aruldos, Vinod Sagar, Roshini Hariprayan and others.
‘Thalivan Thali’ is scheduled to release in theaters on 25 July.
