In short

  • The DSP had alleged his song ‘O Antava’ that was copied by a Hollywood singer
  • Fans connect literary theft with the 2024 track ‘Aleana’ of Turkish singer Atie.
  • The DSP says that he is considering legal action but proud of the global reach of the song

Music composer Devi Sri Prasad, popularly known as DSP, alleged that Allu Arjun-Starr ‘Pushpa: The Rule’ has copied his chartbuster track ‘U Antava’ to “Hollywood”. In an incident recently, the DSP said that the song has been found literaryly, directing the allegation of a singer in Hollywood. However, Turkish pop star Atie, through one of its recent release, one of ‘Analyana’, has caught the Indian audience’s eye to mimic ‘O Antava’.

Speaking to the media, the DSP said, “You all have enjoyed the song ‘O Antava’ from Pushpa. I have composed the song in five minutes while working in my studio. There is no place on this earth where the song has not been played, and now an English singer has copied the song.”

The composer also said that while the incident highlights the global impact of Telugu music, he is considering taking legal action against the artist for seriously unauthorized adaptation.

The song ‘U Antava’, originally shown to Samantha Ruth Prabhu in a bold new avatar, was a fugitive hit when it was released as part of the ‘Pushpa’ franchise. Its attractive heartbeat, composed by DSP, and Mass Appeal made it a chart-topper not only in India but also in international circles.

The DSP further commented, “I am thinking about registering a case against him and what to do. But I am proud that our Telugu song has been copied.”

Vikas has shaken a debate on creative ownership and across the border literary theft in the global music industry. While the DSP mentioned during his speech that it was an English singer who copied the song, the Indian audience reacted to a song by Turkish singer Atie.

In the Turkish pop scene, a prominent person Atii has first released songs in both Türkiye and English. Her recent track released in 2024, ‘Anlena’, is now under investigation for a striking equality for ‘U Antava’. Fans and listeners have indicated a sweet similarity between two tracks online, giving more fuel to the dispute.

It remains to be seen what action the DSP will take in this case.
