After the launch of the Infinix Note 40 Pro in India, the vanilla Note 40 has been launched in the market. It was launched at Rs 19,999, but with bank offers and discounts, the smartphone is effectively available for Rs 15,999. We have been using the phone for a little over a week. Despite being a “vanilla model”, the smartphone has some impressive features like a large AMOLED display, wireless charging capability, and premium design. We have shared our detailed review of the smartphone. If you want a quick summary of our observations from the review, here is the Infinix Note 40 review in 5 points.

Display and Design: The Infinix Note 40 sports a beautiful 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is worth mentioning that this is one of the largest displays on any smartphone in the sub-Rs 20,000 price segment. The display is vibrant and bright, and it is easily readable even in direct sunlight. The ultra-thin bezels are top notch. The dynamic bar on the front camera mimics the iPhone’s feature. It shows details of the ongoing incoming call, recorder, charging status, and face lock animation.

The Infinix Note 40 has a light build with a slim design. On the rear panel, the smartphone has a shimmery-matte panel that looks quite good. The phone has a three-camera setup on a rectangular island. On the same island, there is a ring light that has dual functionality. It can be used as a flash or a torch. It can also be programmed for notifications – for charging, message alerts, music, etc. This is called AI halo lights.

Display: The smartphone performs far better than most devices priced under Rs 20,000. The first thing that caught my attention is that the device doesn’t have any excessive bloatware. Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7020 5G chipset, the phone comes with clean XOS 14, which is based on Android 14. Along with this, the device has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. During our testing, high-graphics games ran buttery smooth on the phone. The only time we noticed a delay was when we forced it to multitask. But otherwise, the real-world performance of the Infinix Note 40 is fast and it handles daily tasks efficiently.

Camera: The camera experience on the Infinix Note 40 was largely good. The device features a 108-megapixel triple rear camera and a 32-megapixel selfie camera. Although the numbers look good on paper, the camera has a slow shutter speed. This means it will click beautiful steady shots but will struggle a bit if you want to capture multiple frames in quick succession. The slow shutter speed also leads to blurry or out-of-focus photos if you don’t hold the camera steady.

Portrait shots are not very impressive either. I took several photos on this mode with the background not blurring – which is the essence of a portrait shot. The same problem exists with the portrait mode on the rear camera. While it doesn’t blur the background in some cases, when it does, its edge detection is poor.

Battery: The Infinix Note 40 packs a 5,000mAH battery and a 33W multimodal wired fast charger, enabling users to choose from low temperature, smart and hyper charging modes. It is also the first device under Rs 20,000 to offer wireless charging. Under the hood, the smartphone supports 15W wireless charging. The wireless charging feature doesn’t give you a quick charge (read the detailed review to know the charging speed) but it is very convenient to keep on your work desk or your bedstand. While the charging time on the phone isn’t fast, the battery life on the Infinix Note 40 is good. It easily lasts a day even with moderate to heavy usage.

final call: The Infinix Note 10 offers a lot of features, including a big, beautiful display, wireless charging, and AI-powered cameras that make the phone feel more expensive than it actually is. The device delivers a decent performance without any excessive bloatware. The only downside to the phone is its charging speed and camera performance in some areas. So, unless you are looking for a good phone specifically for photography, with the bank offer, the Note 40 is a great deal. For more details, you can read the full review here.
