Netflix’s The Waterfront is the latest American drama series that is drawing attention to fans of a family thriller such as Ransum Canian. The eight-episode shows made by Kevin Williamson, and inspired by real events, dive into the complex life of the Bakle family.
Located in the fictional coastal city of the heavenport of Northern Carolina, the series focuses on a time-one fishing and restaurant business that gradually starts separating, leading to the decisions, betrayal, and high-duns.
There is a Bakle family at the center of the waterfront. Patrik, Harlan Bakle, runs a family business with his wife Belle. Together, they have two children: cane and bree. Harlan has a son from the previous relationship, Sean West, from whom he is a half brother of cane and bree.
A fishing and restaurant empire on the edge
Bakls has a major fishing operation and a local restaurant, which is central for the city’s economy. However, as profits, the family is forced to make desperate options to maintain their reputation. The play grows when illegal activities and shady decisions not only affect the business, but also their family bonds. Each member has something to lose, and they are ready to do whatever they are ready to do.
Harlan and Belle’s son Ken Bakle are married to Peeton and have a daughter named Savannah. His sister Bree was married to Rodney Hopkins, and he shares a son, Deller. Meanwhile, Harlan has a son of Sugarcane and Bree with another relationship with a woman named Sean West, Babe. Cousin, diller and savanna are often trapped in the midst of family chaos.
Along with all generations, parents, children and even grandchildren, the story shows how a family decisions are waved through everyone’s life. The family’s tight grip on his public image is a contradiction with a personal drama that comes out in every episode.
