‘How to Train Your Dragon’ took the weekend at the box office in its first week in the weekend. The film earned Rs 14 crore in India, making it the biggest initial weekend in the franchise till date. This is the largest early weekend for a family film this year, and the fifth largest early weekend for the motion picture title in 2025.
‘How to train your dragon’ is one of the top-demonstration animation-to-live-action adaptation, which is a later action adaptation. On June 13, the film coming to theaters was released in Indian cinemas in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, which offers 2D, 3D and IMAX screening. IMAX alone took 21 percent of the total box office revenue, highlighting the contribution of premium formats in its performance.
Directed by franchise veteran Dean Deblois, the film reaches depth in emotional arcs and Viking World-Blocking while being loyal to the 2010 animated film. In the film, Mason plays the role of Temes Hichki, a strange yet permanent teenager who dare to befriend a dragon. Nico Parker plays the role of Astrid, while Gerard Butler plays Vishal, Hichki’s father, giving voice to the character.

Director Dean Deblois confirmed that the next installment was scheduled for 11 June 2027 in Cinemacon of Universal Pictures earlier this year.
Dean also recently opened about backlash on the casting of Parker as Astrid. The fans had expected that Astrid would look more as he had done at origin. In origin, the astrid was white with golden hair and blue eyes.
