Apple is in the final jump to close the Intel-based MAC chapter. During its annual Developer Conference WWDC 2025 Kenote, the company announced that the upcoming Macos Tahoe 26 would be the final major MACOS to support MACS. From next year, Apple’s desktop operating system will be specially designed for Apple Silicon. Apple started its in-house chip architecture at the end of 2020.

Now this is not a big surprise. Apple is advancing its users to switch to Apple silicone with new Mac. In fact, when the cupertino tech veteran launched his silicon in 2020, he also announced a two -year transition plan from the Intel processor starting with M1 to his custom apple silicone chips. Since then, the company has been launching more powerful variants of Apple silicone such as M1 Pro, M2 and the latest M4. Now, with Mcos Taho, Apple is completing this infection.

But wait, Apple is not fully digging Intel. Intel Mac will still get here.

Apple has released the beta of developer for the latest Macos Tahoe 26. But not all Intel-based Macs are eligible for the new OS. Macos 26 will only support a small set of Intel models, including:

• MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)
• MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, four Thunderbolt 3 port)
• IMAC (27-inch, 2020)
• Mac Pro (2019)

The users of these machines will be able to install Mcos Taho in beta or final release- which is expected to fall and achieve its feature set. However, these devices will not get access to Apple Intelligence -Pple Suite of AI features. The company has kept the AI ​​experience exclusive for Apple Silicon Mac. The old Intel model, such as all Intel McBook Air and Intel Mac Minis, have already been cut off from the major OS upgrade.

Intel Mac to get security assistance

While McOS Taho 26 will be the last new OS for Intel Mac. From next year, the company will continue to issue significant security updates for Intel Mac for the next three years. So users can expect patch through 2028, but there is no new system capacity beyond the offering of MacoS Taho.

Apple App is also urging the developers to migrate their apps in Apple Silicon. The company’s Rosetta translation layer-iron-based apps are designed to run on the Apple Silicon-the CACOOS will be available through 27, after which it will be phased out except for a limited set of old gaming framework.

This means that developers have two more OS cycles to finalize support for Apple’s hand-based architecture. In addition, even the inheritance compatibility for apps running on Intel Code will end.
