In short

  • Google officially to launch Android 16 today
  • Material 3 expressed update will not be part of this update
  • The main attraction of updates will include battery health metric, live activities for apps, etc.

After Apple unveiled the iOS26 at its WWDC25 event, Google teased in a post on X, confirming that the final edition of Android16 will be released later on June 10, today. Google announced this through its official Android developer account. Message read: “For the final release, you see back here tomorrow for the final release.” The initial rollout is expected to follow the previous pattern, possibly the beginning of the mid-end in the mountain view locally. While this launch may seem modest compared to the widespread changes of Apple, the groundwork for a large update that comes with Android16 android16 QPR1, which will bring the much -awaited material 3 expressive designs.

This is correct. Despite the enthusiasm around Android16, Google has already made it clear that full material 3 expressive design will not be included in the first edition of Android 16 release. This new form is reserved for upcoming QPR1 (quarterly platform release 1), which is expected in a few months. This update interface will enhance visuals, including quick settings, settings menu and notification shades.

What will be the part of Android 16 update?

Battery health monitoring comes

A major feature in Android16 is a built -in battery health metric. This tool will help users check the status and capacity of their device, which is already similar to the offer. This enables the first to detect the decline, empowering users to plan or adjust habits accordingly.

Live activities of applications

Android16 will come with live activities for individual apps. These directly on the phone’s interface will provide continuous, real -time updates. Useful for ongoing activities such as tracking delivery, ride-sharing, or music playback, live activities at a glance makes important information immediately accessible.

Google Wallet, Advanced Security, etc.

Another new feature in Android 16 will be a quick-access control feature for Google Wallet. With an updated wallet tile in quick settings, users will soon be able to reach the payment card, boarding pass, transit tickets, loyal program cards, etc. – and all this will be at one place, and the user will not need to open any individual app. Think of it like the Apple wallet app.

In addition to updated advanced safety measures, user will also improve security. While specific details are revealed, this feature will probably add additional safety measures to the equipment, possibly including safe boot or encryption enhancement.

Cosmetic and purpose change

A series of small purification are also expected to be bundled in Android 16 updates coming today. These include streamlining interface layouts, improving notification handling and introducing micro visual adjustments to increase clarity and accountability.

What about material 3 expressive design?

Matterial3 expressive, slated for Android16 QPR1, will come with deep adaptation and fluid animation. According to Google’s blog, elements such as notification dismissal with redesign will dynamically wave, and the interaction elements will react with touch reaction. With one eye towards privatization, updates will also include dynamic color themeing, rounded shapes, refined fonts and intelligent use of space – mostly in launcher, especially, quick settings and notification shades.

Live update, similar to live activities, using key scenes for everything from ride tracking to delivery, the necessary ongoing notifications will keep the front and center.

Android 16 rollout

Google is believed to have been followed by a two-phase strategy for Android 16, which aims apparently to develop developers and users to be accustomed to initial changes in Android 16 before diving into rich material 3 expressive features. Originally, it seems that Google wants to separate the core functionality updates from the design upgrade.

Thanks to the public beta program and developer preview, Android16 is already documented well between curious users and developers. Once released, it will first reach the Google Pixel devices, followed by the manufacturers. The release is estimated to follow a familiar rollout pattern-Rolling is gradually updated at one time through OTA (over-the-air).
