Maldives named Katrina Kaif as global tourism ambassador before PM Modi’s visit

Actor Katrina Kaif was named the Global Tourism Ambassador for Maldives, according to a announcement made on social media on Tuesday. Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) announced that he was happy as a global brand ambassador for Kaif, a major face in the Indian film industry, Maldives.
The cooperation came amid a major change in relations since January 2024, when India-Mala became sour. The appointment of Kaif has been announced on heels of Maldives’s special summer sales campaign, designed to woo more passengers to discover natural beauty, vibrant marine life and especially luxurious experiences that offer Maldives.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is ready to visit the country next month.
In an official statement, Kaif accepted his appointment as a global brand ambassador, and said he is excited to represent the luxury and beauty that Maldives have to present. Speaking about his new role as the sunshine of the global brand ambassador of life, the actor said, “Maldives represents the peak of luxury and natural beauty-a place where elegance meets at a place. Kaif is one of the most popular faces in India for brand representation. He is also a face for his own makeup line, called ‘Katrina’.
